Games involving Tottenham and Chelsea are no strangers to controversy, and it struck once more in the first half of their clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs raced into a two goal lead, before Jadon Sancho pulled one back for the visitors in a frantic opening 20 minutes.
But the real controversy came just after the half hour mark, when Moises Caicedo and Pape Sarr collided, resulting in a free kick in favour of Tottenham.
And plenty of football fans, including Jamie Carragher, were quick to question whether the foul warranted anything more, with the tackle not dissimilar to that which Cristian Romero saw red for in the same game last season.
VAR 1: “Bloody hell, Caicedo could’ve broken the opponents leg with that challenge.”
VAR 2: ‘I know. Crazy that.’
VAR 1: “What should we do. Red card?”
VAR 2: ‘Nah. Let him off…’ pic.twitter.com/4DxUhiXWBt
