Sporting CP have confirmed that Manchester United have registered an interest in signing coach Rúben Amorim.
Amorim has been the heavy favourite to succeed Erik ten Hag since the Dutchman’s sacking on Monday, with the Athletic first reporting United’s interest last night.

And now it seems that the Premier League giants are set to hire the 39-year-old with his current side releasing an official statement on Tuesday.
In the statement, Sporting confirm that United have approached them about hiring their head coach and are willing to pay his €10m release clause.
Although there has yet to be any word from United themselves about the move, a deal for Amorim is expected to be completed quickly meaning the Portuguese tactician could be in the dugout for their game with Chelsea on Sunday.
Interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of their EFL Cup game with Leicester on Wednesday.
